I was pleased to represent the Liberal Party of WA at the 2016 Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop for Parliamentarians “A Component of the Commonwealth CyberSecurity and CyberCrime Project” in July.
Global dependence on cyberspace brings opportunities and threats. While cyberspace facilitates openness it can also make states, companies and individuals more vulnerable to hackers, terrorists, fraudsters and foreign intelligence services who seek to steal, spy or destroy data and the infrastructure of cyberspace. The four day program enabled parliamentarians, through improved awareness, to implement, scrutinise and promote cybersecurity and tackle cybercrime within their respective countries.
